Sunday saw the official reopening of the St Colman’s Park pitch in front of a large crowd by County Chairman Seamus Walsh, and blessing and rededication by Canon McCrory.
The day began with a parade through the village to the pitch led by St Malachy’s Band followed by the club banner carried by representatives from the various teams and members.
A number of juvenile games were played including an U8’s match between Drumaness and Dundrum followed by the senior match of Drumaness v East Down select with the entertaining game ending in a draw.
One of the highlights of the day was a former player’s challenge “Game of 2 Halves” Drumaness GAC v Ballynahinch RFC with a mix of players playing both codes of football in what was a thoroughly enjoyable event for all who took part and the large support along the sideline.
Past players and members also had a reunion in the club rooms with tails of the past refreshed.
Evening entertainment was an Irish dancing exhibition, table quiz followed by traditional music.
Thank you to all the players on the East Down select team from Darragh Cross, Teconnaught, Ballykinlar and St John’s.
Thanks also to the Drumaness and Ballynahinch Girl Guides who provided the BBQ, and catering facilities.
Thanks to all players from the various Drumaness teams, Ballynahinch RFC and Dundrum U8's who took part in the various activities and the volunteers who contributed to make this day a success.
